Welcome to San Diego Community Academy, home of the Lion Cubs and a united TK–8 dual language campus. Our thriving Dual Language Immersion Program promotes bilingualism, biliteracy, and multicultural understanding by providing instruction in both English and Spanish every day. At Community Academy, students grow not only as scholars, but as confident, compassionate leaders prepared to thrive in a diverse world.

 

We are honored to have Mr. Gerry Guevara serve as the Principal of Community Academy, who is entering his 21st year of service with SDNOS and 14th year as Principal. His commitment to student success, family engagement, and staff collaboration reflects the very heart of our mission. Mr. Guevara leads with vision, compassion, and dedication—always from a foundation of love.

 

Students at Community Academy benefit from aligned instruction across all grade levels, helping to drive academic achievement, strengthen family-school partnerships, and promote positive attendance rates. 

Our holistic approach to education includes:

 

-A thriving Dual Language Immersion program promoting fluency in both Spanish and English
-A wide range of FREE Expanded Learning Opportunities, including competitive athletics and clubs
-A FREE Before-School Program that runs from 6:50AM-8:20AM daily, as well as a FREE After-School Program that runs from 2:35PM-6PM daily and from 1:00PM-6PM on Minimum Days
-Small class sizes for individualized attention
-Daily mindfulness practice and embedded mental health supports
-A strong Community School model that connects families with vital resources and partnerships
-Early exposure to college and career pathways
